February 19 is ‘Help a PR Pro Out’ day – PRWeek US.
This article caught my eye this week, and I thought it was an appropriate item to share with NE District colleagues. Our region has been hit hard by the recession, and many public relations professionals have been affected. PR students, too, are feeling the pinch, as internships and entry-level jobs are harder to come by.
And so I encourage you to read this article and take a moment to consider how you can help a current or future PR pro: reach out to colleagues who are out of work and help them to network through PRSA events and other activities; volunteer to speak in a class at a local college; provide a student with an unpaid internship; hire an independent PR professional once in a while when you need an extra set of hands for a project.
In an economy that continues to teeter, those of us with the good fortune to have stable employment should support those whose fortunes are not so bright at the moment in any way we can.
