PRSA Northeast District 2010 Strategic Plan
Vision
The Northeast District of the Public Relations Society of America serves a diverse community of professionals in upstate New York and New England, empowering them to excel in effective, ethical and respectful communications on behalf of the organizations they represent and the constituencies they serve.
Mission
The mission of the Northeast District is to build stronger chapters throughout the district by offering professional development programs, fostering communication among chapters in the district, and facilitating leadership development. The district’s business will be conducted in a fiscally responsible manner in accordance with the procedures and policies outlined in the PRSA Handbook for District Chairs.
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
To deliver or facilitate the delivery of exceptional professional development programs for PRSA members in the district.
Objective #1
To provide an annual district conference, hosted by different chapters on a rotating basis, attended by PRSA members from all eight chapters in the district as well as students from PRSSA chapters in the district.
Objective #2
To share information about chapters’ professional development programs with other chapters, particularly those in neighboring cities and important industry information.
Goal 2
To improve the communications structure between the district and its chapters as well as facilitate communication among chapters.
Objective #1
To create and maintain a district blog featuring information about district activities as well as news from chapters.
Objective #2
To invite chapter presidents or their designees to participate in monthly district leadership telephone conference calls to share chapter activities and concerns.
Objective #3
To provide networking opportunities at the national PRSA Assembly for chapter members serving as Assembly delegates, including a an optional dinner the evening prior to the Assembly and a district meeting the morning after the Assembly.
Objective #4
To participate in speaking opportunities during periodic visits to chapters within the district.
Goal 3
To facilitate development of chapters and chapter leadership.
Objective #1
To develop strong chapter and society leadership by conducting an annual QuickStart Conference for chapter leadership.
Objective #2
To provide chapter leaders with information about pathways to district and national leadership via the district blog, periodic e-mails, monthly district conference calls and chapter visits.
Goal 4
To conduct the district’s business in a well-managed, fiscally responsible manner.
Objective #1
To maintain a balance of at least $1,000 in the district’s treasury throughout the year.
Objective #2
To conduct an annual financial review and communicate results of that review to chapter presidents in annual dues notices.
Objective #3
To create a succession plan for the Northeast District on an annual basis, based on input from current district officers and chapter presidents.
